About Theta Data

Theta Data is a rapidly growing company founded in 2022 by Bailey Danseglio. Our mission is to provide the world with efficient access to stock, options, and index data, in a format that is easy to consume and analyze. We believe that exchange data should be available to everyone, not just firms with big bank accounts. Theta Data’s market data service delivers stock, options, and index data to any server or desktop through an easy-to-use REST API, or real-time data via WebSockets. Current Openings

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Data Center Engineer to join our growing infrastructure team. In this role, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations and maintenance of our critical data center infrastructure. You will work closely with other engineers to ensure the availability, performance, and security of our systems.

Responsibilities
  • Install, configure, and maintain server hardware (e.g., servers, storage, networking equipment).
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues in a timely manner.
  • Manage server operating systems (primarily Linux, with some experience with Windows).
  • Implement and maintain RAID configurations.
  • Perform system upgrades, patches, and security updates.
  • Monitor system performance and proactively address potential issues.
  • Work with network engineers to ensure network connectivity and performance.
  • Participate in on-call rotation to provide 24/7 support.
  • Document and maintain system configurations and procedures.
  • Contribute to the improvement of data center operations and procedures.
Essential Qualifications
  • 2-5 years of hands-on experience with server hardware and infrastructure.
  • Strong understanding of server hardware components (e.g., CPUs, RAM, storage).
  • Experience with RAID configurations.
  • Familiarity with Netbox for infrastructure management.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with Linux operating systems (Ubuntu).
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts (e.g., TCP/IP, subnetting).
  • Experience with monitoring tools like New Relic.
  • Experience with automation tools like Ubuntu cloud-init for server provisioning, and Ansible for server configuration.

We are seeking a talented and enthusiastic Senior C++ Software Engineer to join our growing engineering team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the development and maintenance of our various backend servers, and on-client terminal C++ applications. You will work closely with senior engineers to learn and grow your skills while contributing to impactful projects.

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and test C++ applications using industry best practices.
  • Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, and deployment.
  • Write clean, well-documented, and maintainable code.
  • Troubleshoot and debug software issues.
  • Collaborate effectively with other engineers, product managers, and stakeholders.
  • Learn and adapt to new technologies and best practices.
  • Contribute to the improvement of our development processes.
Essential Qualifications
  • 8 - 10 years of professional experience in C++ software development.
  • Strong understanding of C++ core concepts (OOP, collections, concurrency).
  • Understanding of networking concepts (e.g., TCP/IP, HTTP).
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A passion for learning and a desire to grow as a software engineer.
Preferred Skills
  • Familiarity with databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, ClickHouse).
  • Experience with DevOps tools and practices (e.g., CI/CD, containerization).
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools like New Relic is a plus.
  • Windows and Linux system administration
